My work is rooted in the Canadian landscape—quiet, raw, and emotionally charged. I am drawn to austere moments: a stand of pines beneath a winter sky, the stillness of a frozen lake, the weight of low cloud. These are the scenes that speak not just of place, but of memory, solitude, and the subtle power of nature.
I work primarily in oil, building up atmosphere through tone and restraint. By simplifying form and limiting my palette, I aim to distill the essence of the landscape. What’s left is not a literal depiction, but a felt experience—one that invites the viewer to slow down and reflect. My goal is to make landscape painting contemporary and accessible, while honouring the deep traditions of Canadian art.
Each painting is a quiet dialogue between abstraction and realism, control and spontaneity. I don’t set out to document the land—I try to listen to it, and to let that still voice emerge through paint.
